SMS opt-in disclosure
Last updated: September 24, 2026
Gravityloop pages on-call responders over SMS and voice. This page exists so anyone reviewing that program — without a Gravityloop account — can see exactly how a phone number gets added, what it's told before it consents, and what happens if it opts out. The step-by-step below and the disclosure text quoted further down are kept in sync with the product; if the on-screen flow changes, this page changes with it.
Who can be paged
A number is only ever added to on-call paging by the person who will receive the pages, for their own account. Nobody else can add a number on someone's behalf, and alerts sent to it are transactional on-call notifications only — incidents from the services that person is on-call for. They are never marketing or promotional messages, and the number is never used to contact that person about anything else.
How opt-in works
- The user signs in to their Gravityloop account.
- They open notification settings and choose to add a mobile number for paging.
- They enter their mobile number and are shown the disclosure text quoted below, in full, before continuing.
- Gravityloop sends a one-time verification code by SMS to that number.
- The user enters the code back into Gravityloop to confirm they control the number.
- Only once the code is confirmed does the number become eligible to receive on-call alerts.
Consent is recorded at step 5: we store the number, the timestamp, and the exact disclosure text that was on screen when it was submitted, so the record stays verifiable even if the wording is later updated for new users.
The exact disclosure text
Gravityloop on-call alerts By entering your phone number and confirming the verification code, you agree to receive automated SMS messages and voice calls from Gravityloop at this number when an incident pages you as the on-call responder. Message frequency depends on how often your team's alerts fire and is not capped. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving alerts at this number, or HELP for help. Stopping alerts removes this number from on-call paging: incidents that would have reached you will escalate to the next responder in your policy. We keep a record of this consent — the number, the time you submitted it, and the wording above — for as long as our privacy policy requires, including after you remove the number. See https://gravityloop.io/privacy and https://gravityloop.io/terms.
Opting out
Replying STOP to any message halts delivery to that number immediately. Because these are on-call pages rather than a marketing list, opting out removes that number from paging entirely — an incident that would have reached it instead escalates to the next responder in the policy.
Alerts and verification codes are sent from the same Gravityloop number, so STOP also stops verification codes to that number. To opt back in, reply START to the same number; alerts and verification codes resume from then on. Re-adding the number in the dashboard is not enough on its own, because the verification code cannot be delivered until the number has replied START.
